“Good trouble” brings to mind the late Civil Rights leader and Georgia Congressional Representative, John Robert Lewis (1940-2020), who coined the term as a clarion call to civil rights supporters and activists everywhere.
We remember Representative Lewis as a faith-filled man who devoted his life to God, racial justice, equality and the American people. John Lewis’ legacy includes partnering with Martin Luther King Jr. from a very young age and later, becoming a beacon of hope and justice as a law maker in Washington, DC. for over 30 years. Justice seekers everywhere believe John Lewis will be forever memorialized for this impassioned “call to action” to the American people:
Reclaim Initiative sees justice as integral to everything God is and all that Jesus did while walking this earth. God is just and his plan for all creation is to know his justice. When Jesus came to earth, he came to reclaim creation and to restore God’s plan for justice.
As people who walk the way of Jesus, when we see injustice in our world, we have the opportunity to partner with God to reclaim and restore justice through “Kingdom assignments.”
We see this as the necessary “good trouble” John Lewis spoke of and we are honored to continue Rep. Lewis’ legacy, reclaiming and restoring God’s justice in the world, with some necessary “good trouble.”
